At first, I did not understand the importance of having a coach, but as my journey with her began, I honestly wished I had done this at the beginning of my career; I would’ve been in a much higher place! Maria helped me overcome my fear of injury, build my confidence as a player, learn to stay focused on the court no matter what is happening around me, and, most importantly, understand and manage my emotions, especially in situations during the game that can take me out of focus. Her tools helped me so much. They became a religious part of my pre-game routine. She’s the first person I call after every game to discuss everything so we can continuously work on improving my game.
